Polda Sumut Arrest Illegal Sellers of Pangolin Scales and Swallows Nest

HELLO – The North Sumatra Police (Polda Sumut) arrested two sellers of illegal pangolin scales and swallow nests. In the arrest, police secured pangolin scales weighing 1.9 kg and a swallow’s nest as evidence.

The Head of Public Relations (Kabid Humas) Polda Sumut, Commissioner Hadi Wahyudi said the two perpetrators were L and AS. Both were arrested in Namorambe District, Deliserdang Regency, Saturday 12 February 2022.

“The two was arrested when doing a transaction,” stated Commissioner Hadi Wahyudi, Thursday 24 Februari 2022.

Kabid Humas Polda Sumut said, L was a seller of pangolin scales and swallow nests, while AS is the buyer.

L admitted that the scales and the nest were obtained from a man initialed H from South Aceh Regency.

“H sent pangolin scales and swallow’s nest to L via a travel car from Aceh to Medan. L then collected the goods in the counter,” said Commissioner Hadi.

Police Commissioner Hadi Wahyudi said that the profit from the scales is Rp. 150,000 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the swallow’s nest is around Rp. 300,000 to Rp. 500,000 per kilogram.***
